Germany proxies

Germany proxies give you German residential, ISP and mobile exits, with city targeting in Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Cologne and Hamburg. German shoppers compare prices habitually and the law requires unit prices, which makes the market unusually well structured for price data.

The short answer

  • The Price Indication Ordinance (PAngV) § 4 requires a unit price (per kilogram, litre and so on) next to the total for many goods, so German pages give you a comparable Grundpreis field for free.
  • 70.4% of people aged 16–74 in Germany bought online in the three months before Eurostat's 2025 survey, against 62.4% across the EU.
  • AUMA reports that two-thirds of the world's leading trade fairs take place in Germany; hotel rates in fair cities move with the fair calendar, not the season.
  • Private companies are supervised by the data protection authority of their federal state, not by one national regulator.

What teams collect in Germany

Price monitoring

Comparison portals such as idealo and Check24 are part of how Germans buy, so retailers watch them closely and reprice often. Collect the unit price alongside the shelf price; for appliances and phones see electronics price monitoring.

Travel fares

During large fairs, hotel rates in Frankfurt, Munich, Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin can multiply for the fair week. Sampling the fair dates against the weeks either side, from a German exit, is covered in trade-fair hotel prices.

Real estate & jobs

Rents in Munich and Berlin are closely watched, and portals such as ImmobilienScout24 publish asking rents per district. City exits keep the default search area aligned with the metro you are studying; see real estate listings.

Ad verification

German mobile exits show what a phone on a German carrier network is served, while residential exits in the five metros cover regional desktop campaigns.

AI training data

German-language text from public news, government and product pages is a common gap in multilingual training sets. Multilingual corpora covers deduplication and licensing checks.

Unit prices and comparison culture in German e-commerce

Section 4(1) of the Preisangabenverordnung (PAngV) requires anyone offering goods by weight, volume, length or area to state the unit price clearly next to the total price, unless the two are identical. Online shops follow it, so most German grocery, drugstore and household listings carry a Grundpreis such as '2,49 € / 1 kg'. Parse it as its own field: it lets you compare a 750 g pack with a 1 kg pack without guessing the size from the title.

Adoption is high. In Eurostat's 2025 survey, 70.4% of people aged 16–74 in Germany had bought something online in the previous three months.

Trade fairs and hotel prices in German cities

The German trade fair association AUMA states that two-thirds of the world's leading trade fairs are held in Germany. Fair weeks dominate hotel demand in host cities, so rate shopping there needs the fair calendar as an input, not just the day of week and season.

Five fair cities are city-targetable: Frankfurt, Munich, Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin. Hannover, Düsseldorf and Nuremberg are major fair venues too but have no city target; use German country exits for them. Hotel prices are set for the destination, so a Frankfurt exit is not required to see Hannover rates; what matters is a German point of sale and a consistent check-in date matrix.

Who supervises data protection in Germany

The GDPR applies directly and is supplemented in Germany by the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the data protection acts of the federal states. Supervision of private companies sits, as a rule, with the data protection authority of the state where the company is based; the Federal Commissioner (BfDI) supervises federal bodies and certain sectors.

German sites also tend to show consent banners before any content loads. Your collector should handle the banner the way a visitor would and must not assume consent it was not given; cookie consent testing covers how teams check banners themselves. This is context, not legal advice.

FAQ

Questions

Something not covered? Write to contact@arcproxies.io.

Can I target Munich specifically?

Yes. Munich is one of five German metros on the rotating pools, with Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne and Hamburg. Add the city token shown in the availability table to the username.

Can I get exits in Hannover, Düsseldorf or Stuttgart?

Not as city targets. Use German country targeting; for most price and travel data a German point of sale is what matters, not the exact city of the exit.

Are German mobile IPs available?

Yes. Germany is one of the four ARC Mobile countries. Mobile is country-level only, without city targeting, and a session holds its IP for 5 to 60 minutes. Details are on mobile proxies.

Do German exits also give me Austrian or Swiss prices?

No. Many retailers run separate .de, .at and .ch shops with their own prices and currencies. Germany exits are for the German market; check the domain and currency per row.

Which pool is cheapest for German catalogue crawls?

ARC Basic, the rotating ISP pool. Use it for category pages and sitemaps and move only pages that differ by location or are strict about traffic to residential exits. Calculate proxy costs shows how to size the split.
