Canada proxies

Canada proxies route requests through Canadian residential and ISP IPs, with city targeting in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. Canada is two language markets, has provincial privacy law layered on the federal one, and sits next to a much larger US market that many sites redirect to by default.

The short answer

  • Retail e-commerce was 7.6% of total retail trade in August 2026 (Statistics Canada).
  • In Quebec, commercial publications, including websites, must be in French under the Charter of the French Language. Collect fr-CA and en-CA as separate editions.
  • PIPEDA is the federal private-sector privacy law; Quebec's Law 25 has been phased in since September 2022 and is overseen by the Commission d'accès à l'information.
  • Many international sites send Canadian visitors to a .ca shop in Canadian dollars; check you are not collecting US prices from a Canadian exit.

What teams collect in Canada

Price monitoring

Grocery prices are closely watched in Canada, and chains publish flyer and online prices per province or store. Set the store or postal code per session and record it; see grocery price monitoring.

Travel fares

Domestic fares between Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver are priced in CAD from Canadian points of sale and often differ from the same flight sold in the US. Airline fares covers point-of-sale collection.

SEO & SERP

Montreal searches return French and English results depending on the interface language, and Toronto and Vancouver local packs differ. Track each city and language pair; see local rank tracking.

Real estate & jobs

Toronto and Vancouver are large, closely followed housing markets. Collect listings per city from that city's exit and keep CAD and square footage per row; real estate listings covers deduplication.

QA & localisation

Teams launching in Quebec check that French versions of pages, prices and consent banners actually load for visitors there. Montreal exits let QA see what a local visitor gets.

In depth

The Canada market, for data teams

Quebec, French and two editions of every site

The Office québécois de la langue française states that commercial publications must be written in French, and that this includes publications on websites and social media. Retailers and service providers operating in Quebec therefore run French versions of their sites, sometimes with different promotions or assortments from the English ones.

Treat fr-CA and en-CA as two markets. A Montreal exit with Accept-Language: fr-CA is the cleanest way to see the Quebec edition; the same exit with en-CA may still show the English site, so the header, not the IP, decides the language.

A single-digit online share means flyers and store prices still matter, particularly in grocery. Store-level pages are usually reachable without logging in once a postal code or store is chosen.

PIPEDA, Law 25 and provincial privacy rules

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada describes PIPEDA as setting the ground rules for how private-sector organisations collect, use and disclose personal information. Quebec adds its own regime: the law known as Law 25 modernised the province's private-sector rules in stages from September 2022 to September 2024, under the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

For collections of public prices, fares and listings the practical effect is on what you keep: drop personal fields such as agent names or reviewer profiles unless you need them. See our acceptable use policy. This is not legal advice.

Avoiding US prices on a Canadian collection

Many international retailers run a .com shop in US dollars and a .ca shop in Canadian dollars and redirect by IP, cookie or language. A Canadian exit gets you to the .ca shop most of the time, but a stale cookie from a US run can keep you on .com. Start each flow with a clean cookie jar, request the .ca domain directly where one exists, and store domain and currency on every row. Test the proxy location before a long run.

FAQ

Questions

Something not covered? Write to contact@arcproxies.io.

Can I target Montreal or Vancouver specifically?

Yes. Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal are the three Canadian city targets. Calgary, Ottawa, Edmonton and Quebec City are not; use Canada country targeting for those.

Are Canadian mobile proxies available?

No. ARC Mobile exits are only in Germany, the UK, the US and Japan. Use residential exits with mobile device signals for Canadian mobile-web pages.

Do I need a Montreal exit to see French prices?

Not strictly. The language header and URL select the French edition; a Montreal exit makes the request consistent with a Quebec visitor, which helps where stock or promotions differ by province.

Are Canadian prices shown with sales tax included?

Usually not. GST, HST and provincial taxes are typically added at checkout and differ by province, so record the province your postal code selects and keep the listing price and checkout total apart.
