Australia proxies

Australia proxies route requests through Australian residential and ISP IPs, with city targeting in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Australian consumer law requires a single total price, the privacy regime was reformed in 2024, and the eastern states do not even share a clock for half the year.

The short answer

  • Under the Australian Consumer Law's single-price provisions, the price shown must be the minimum total cost, including taxes such as GST and compulsory fees.
  • Online sales were 12.7% of retail turnover in June 2025, in the ABS's final Retail Trade release before the series ended.
  • The Privacy Act 1988 and its 13 Australian Privacy Principles are overseen by the OAIC; a statutory tort for serious invasions of privacy commenced on 10 June 2025.
  • Brisbane does not observe daylight saving time while Sydney and Melbourne do, so schedule by city time zone, not by 'AEST'.

What teams collect in Australia

Price monitoring

Supermarket pricing is closely watched in Australia, and the major chains publish online prices per store. Choose a store or postcode per session and keep it fixed; see grocery price monitoring.

Alternative data

Electricity and gas offers in Australia are quoted per postcode or distribution area, and tariff series built from them are used as alternative data on household costs. Energy tariffs covers collecting public plan details.

Real estate & jobs

Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane are separate housing markets with active auction weekends. Portals such as Domain and realestate.com.au list per suburb; real estate listings covers keeping price guides and sold prices apart.

Travel fares

The Sydney–Melbourne and Brisbane–Sydney corridors carry heavy domestic air traffic with frequent fare changes. Airline fares covers search-flow sessions and point of sale.

Reviews & changes

Australian app storefronts and local review sites carry feedback that does not appear in US or UK stores. App store reviews covers per-country storefronts.

In depth

The Australia market, for data teams

Single total prices under Australian consumer law

Queensland's government guidance on the Australian Consumer Law describes the single price as the minimum total cost that can be calculated, including taxes, duties, fees or levies such as GST. Component prices can be shown, but the total must be there and prominent; the same guidance cites an airline penalised by the Federal Court for breaching the single-price provisions.

For collectors the result is that the headline Australian price is normally GST-inclusive and already contains compulsory fees. Optional extras (seat selection, delivery choices) still appear later. Record the headline and the checkout total, and treat a difference as either an optional extra or a finding worth reviewing.

Australian online retail in figures

Online share of total retail turnover (original terms)12.7% (11.9% the month before)June 2025ABS, final Retail Trade release
Individuals using the internet96.1% of population2024World Bank / ITU

The ABS retired its monthly Retail Trade publication with the June 2025 release, so 12.7% is the last official monthly figure in that series. If you build your own online price or availability index, that gap is part of why.

Privacy Act 1988 and the 2024 reforms

The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) oversees the Privacy Act 1988, which contains 13 Australian Privacy Principles. The Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2024 added, among other changes, a statutory tort for serious invasions of privacy; the OAIC notes that it commenced on 10 June 2025.

Product, fare and listing data rarely raise privacy questions; agent names, vendor details and reviewer profiles can. Keep them out of the dataset unless you need them and follow our acceptable use policy. Not legal advice.

Send en-AU and expect AUD with a dollar sign that looks identical to the US one. Store the ISO currency code, never the symbol, or a US cookie leftover will put USD prices into an AUD column without anyone noticing.

FAQ

Questions

Something not covered? Write to contact@arcproxies.io.

Can I target Perth or Adelaide?

Not as city targets. Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane are the Australian metros; use Australia country targeting for Perth, Adelaide and elsewhere, and set the postcode on the site where prices depend on it.

Do you have Australian mobile proxies?

No. ARC Mobile covers Germany, the UK, the US and Japan only. Residential exits with mobile device signals are the option for Australian mobile-web pages.

Can I target Melbourne specifically?

Yes. Melbourne is a city target on the rotating pools, as are Sydney and Brisbane. Add the city token from the availability table to the username.

Are Australian prices shown including GST?

Consumer prices are normally shown as a single GST-inclusive total, because the single-price rules require the minimum total cost. B2B quotes can differ, so keep the tax label if the page shows one.
