Campervan and motorhome rental price monitoring by depot and season

Campervan rental price monitoring tracks the daily rate per vehicle class and depot for a given pickup date and rental length, plus the fees that make up the real trip price: one-way charges between depots, kitchen and bedding kits, cleaning and mileage packages. It behaves more like holiday pricing than like car hire.

The short answer

  • The key is depot × pickup date × rental length × vehicle class. Rates are seasonal and minimum rental lengths change with the season, so a five-night search can return nothing in peak weeks.
  • Collect the trip total including mandatory fees. Kits, cleaning and service fees are often added per rental, not per night, and change the ranking of offers.
  • One-way rentals between depots carry their own fee, and occasional relocation offers run the other way. Store direction explicitly.
  • Vehicle class matters for licences: in the EU, category B covers vehicles up to 3,500 kg, which is why heavier motorhomes are a separate segment.

The problem

What goes wrong without the right IPs

Minimum rental lengths hide prices

Many operators set a minimum hire that rises in peak season. A fixed short search returns 'no availability' when the van is free but the rental is too short. Search the lengths customers book and record minimum-hire messages as their own state.

Fees outside the nightly rate

Preparation fees, kitchen and bedding kits, toilet chemicals, cleaning, pets and mileage packages are added at different booking steps. Collect up to the price summary, before any personal details, and itemise; this is drip pricing in its rental form.

Vehicle classes do not match across operators

One brand's 'compact camper' sleeps two, another's sleeps three with a pop-top. Normalise on berths, seat belts, gross weight, transmission and bathroom rather than on the operator's class name.

Insurance excess changes the comparison

A low rate with a large excess and an expensive excess-reduction option can cost more than a higher all-inclusive rate. Store the excess and the price of reducing it.

Depots, not airports

Campervans are collected from a small number of depots, often outside city centres. Map broker depot names to operator depots so the same pickup point is not counted twice.

What to collect

What you can collect

Depot pickup and drop-off
One-way pairs carry separate fees and occasional relocation deals.
Pickup date and rental length
Seasonal rates and minimum-hire rules depend on both.
Vehicle: berths, weight, transmission, bathroom
The normalised class that makes operators comparable.
Nightly rate and trip total
The total, with mandatory fees, is what ranks offers.
One-way fee
Large and route-specific; often decisive for touring trips.
Mandatory and common extras
Kits, cleaning, preparation, mileage packages, pets.
Insurance excess and reduction price
Changes the true cost of the cheapest offer.
Cancellation terms
Dated rentals are generally outside the EU right of withdrawal, so the operator's own terms decide.
Availability state
Available, sold out, below minimum length.

How it runs

How a collection run works

  1. 01

Build the depot and season grid

List depots per country, the one-way pairs customers book, and pickup dates across shoulder and peak seasons. Use the rental lengths your customers actually choose, typically one to three weeks.

  2. 02

    Search once per class-free query

Most booking engines return all vehicle classes for one depot, date and length in one results page. Query that once and parse every class, rather than one query per vehicle.

  3. 03

Price the trip to the summary step

For the vehicles you track, continue to the price summary with the mandatory extras selected and record each line. Stop before any personal or payment details.

One sticky session per depot search
    import secretsimport httpxBASE_USER = "USERNAME_pool-arcfast_country-de"def depot_client(market: str) -> httpx.Client:    user = BASE_USER.replace("_country-de", f"_country-{market}")    proxy = f"http://{user}_session-{secrets.token_hex(4)}_sesstime-10:PASSWORD@proxy.arcproxies.io:8000"    return httpx.Client(proxy=proxy, timeout=40)with depot_client("de") as client:    results = search(client, pickup="MUC-depot", dropoff="HAM-depot",                     start="2027-07-10", nights=14)    for van in results:        summary = price_summary(client, van, extras=["kitchen_kit", "bedding"])        store(van.berths, van.gross_weight_kg, summary.lines, summary.total)
  4. 04

    Normalise and compare

Map each vehicle to your class scheme, then compare trip totals per class, depot and date. Index against the same week a year earlier to separate seasonal moves from pricing changes; storing price time series covers a schema for it.

Setup

Car hire monitoring by pickup location and market is covered on car rental prices. The two share brokers but not the pricing model.

Vehicle classes, weight and licences

Directive 2006/126/EC defines driving licence category B as covering motor vehicles with a maximum authorised mass of up to 3,500 kg and seating no more than eight passengers besides the driver. Rental fleets advertise many vans as drivable on a category B licence; heavier motorhomes need a different licence class for many drivers and form a separate market.

Store gross vehicle weight with every vehicle. It explains price differences between classes that look similar on berths alone, and lets a comparison site filter offers a customer can legally drive. This describes the directive; national rules vary and this is not legal advice.

The market behind the rental fleet

Rental fleets draw on a large new-vehicle market. CIVD, the German caravanning industry association, reported around 161,000 new motor caravans registered in Europe in 2025, up about 0.6%, with Germany the largest market at 75,368. Fleet sell-offs and new-vehicle supply both feed into rental rates, which is one reason year-on-year comparisons need the same week and class.

Cancellation terms belong in the data

Under Article 16(l) of the Consumer Rights Directive, the right of withdrawal does not apply to car rental services or services related to leisure activities where the contract provides for a specific date or period of performance. For dated campervan bookings, the operator's own cancellation terms therefore set what a customer can get back.

Store the cancellation schedule with each offer. A flexible rate and a non-refundable rate at the same price are different products, as they are for package holidays.

FAQ

Questions

Something not covered? Write to contact@arcproxies.io.

Why does a campervan search return no results for short trips?

Most likely a minimum rental length. Operators often require longer hires in peak season, so a short search returns nothing even when vans are free. Search the lengths customers actually book and record the minimum-hire message as its own state.

How are one-way campervan fees priced?

Usually per depot pair and direction, sometimes varying by season. They can be a large share of a touring trip's cost, so store them as a separate line. Relocation offers in the opposite direction are occasional and short-notice.

What should a campervan price comparison include?

The trip total for the same dates and depots, with mandatory extras, the insurance excess and the price of reducing it, plus the cancellation terms. Comparing nightly rates alone misranks offers.

Which proxy setup suits campervan rental monitoring?

Residential exits in the customer's market, held sticky for each search-to-summary flow, for the booking engines; the cheaper rotating ISP pool for depot pages and fleet specifications. Billing is per GB, and the balance does not expire between seasons.

Can I target a city near the depot?

City targeting is available for listed metros such as Munich, Hamburg or Melbourne on the residential and ISP plans. For most rental sites the customer's country is what changes the price, so country targeting is usually enough.
